Bulletin 002: Too Young to Glow Up Extra

Why Less is More When it Comes to Children’s Skin

Skin is Not Separate

Your child’s skin isn’t just something on the outside - it’s part of a much bigger picture.

It’s connected to every major system in the body:

  • Their gut (which benefits from a varied, balanced diet)

  • Their lungs (breathing in fresh air and avoiding pollution where possible)

  • Their heart and muscles (supported by regular movement and play)

  • Their nervous system (calmed by good sleep and emotional support)

  • Their hormones (which shift and change as they grow)

Skin is a signal system. It reflects what’s happening inside and responds to the world around it.

That’s why lifestyle and environment play such an important role - and why most common skin conditions in children are influenced or made worse by everyday things we can support.

When skin is nurtured in simple, balanced ways, it tends to thrive:

  • A happy gut with variety (and not too much sugar)

  • A happy mind, with enough rest and sleep

  • Happy movement, through regular activity and fresh air

  • A healthy environment, including sun protection and gentle care

  • And a skin routine that’s appropriate for their age, not overloaded with grown-up products

Why Young Skin Doesn’t Need Help to Glow

Your child’s skin is beautifully active and well-tuned.
It’s working around the clock to protect, renew, and stay balanced - without needing much help.

Right now, it’s naturally producing everything it needs:

  • Lipids (natural oils) to keep skin soft and protected

  • Ceramides, squalene, fatty acids, and cholesterol to support the skin’s outer layer

  • Water-loving molecules like amino acids to hold in hydration

  • New skin cells are being made and replaced at just the right pace

  • Collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid (under the surface) are being made in abundance

In other words, young skin is already doing its job - brilliantly.

Sometimes, with the best intentions, we can add products that interrupt this natural rhythm.
Things like scrubs, masks, or strong active ingredients (like retinol) can throw the skin barrier off balance.

That’s when we might see:

  • Increased sensitivity

  • Dry patches or oily areas

  • Breakouts

  • And confusion around what the skin actually needs

Rather than aiming for more products, the goal is gentle support.

Protect what’s working. Keep things simple. And let healthy skin stay healthy.
