Love your skin again

The Happy Skin Clinic® exists not only to make the skin look and feel beautiful, but to be genuinely healthier too.

Hello, I’m Jacqui de Jager, skin health therapist and electrologist at the clinic. Read more below:

  • Hello, I'm Jacqui. I was born in the charming village of Rock, Worcestershire, where my love for the countryside began. Many of my childhood holidays were spent with my beloved nanny near Cleobury Mortimer in Shropshire, a place that always felt like home.

After school, I followed my passion for nurturing and education, training as an NNEB and later as an adult education trainer. But I wasn’t done learning—I pursued a BA Hons in Business, which opened doors to exciting roles in operations and customer care with large corporate companies.

Life took a thrilling turn when I met my then-husband, and together, we opened an award-winning private dental clinic in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. Building on that success, I ventured into the world of aesthetics, launching a practice that allowed me to blend my business acumen with my passion for helping others feel confident in their skin.

As a qualified Corneotherapist, with recognised qualifications in beauty therapy, electro facials, skin-needling, and advanced electrolysis, I’ve honed my expertise in skin health and rejuvenation. My approach is all about repairing and maintaining the skin barrier, ensuring my clients achieve long-lasting results.

As life evolved, so did I. My teenage daughter and I decided it was time for a fresh start, so we headed back north to the beautiful Shropshire countryside. In February 2023, I realised a long-held dream by opening The Happy Skin Clinic in Ruyton-XI-Towns. Here, I combine years of experience with a deep commitment to skin health and wellness.

But that’s not all - I also run a cosy, self-contained Airbnb right next door to the clinic, perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat. When I'm not working, you’ll find me in the garden, entertaining friends, or finding my zen through yoga.

Life has been a journey full of change and growth, and I’m excited to bring my expertise and passion for skincare to my wonderful community in Shropshire.

  • Corneotherapy is all about repairing and maintaining the skin's natural barrier—focusing on the microbiome, acid mantle, and the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin. Instead of just addressing visible symptoms, corneotherapy delves into the underlying causes of skin issues, leading to more sustainable, long-term results.

Similarly, functional skincare takes a holistic view of skin health. Like functional medicine, which considers the whole person, functional skincare looks at the root causes of skin concerns to promote overall skin wellness.

When combined, corneotherapy and functional skincare create a powerful synergy. This approach not only protects your skin but also helps it thrive, delivering optimal results that go beyond surface-level care.

  • A healthy skin barrier is essential for maintaining clear and resilient skin. Many common skin conditions, such as dry skin, dehydration, sensitive skin, and premature ageing, arise from external factors like UV radiation, environmental pollutants, weather conditions, and our choice of skincare products. Acne, while often linked to hormonal is also influenced by a range of additional external factors. Even conditions related to hereditary factors such as rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis can be better managed with the right skin care, as a strong skin barrier enhances the skin’s resilience, reducing the frequency and severity of symptoms. With a robust skin barrier, your complexion becomes smoother, calmer, healthier, and more radiant.

  • The clinic uses pure corneotherapy skincare products which are bio-mimetic, meaning they are designed to mimic the skin’s natural composition. This allows the skin to easily recognise and utilise the ingredients, enhancing their absorption and effectiveness. These formulations contain essential components like lipids, ceramides, and other barrier-repairing ingredients that support the skin’s structure and function, alongside targeted actives. Together, they help restore the skin’s protective barrier, maintain balance, and promote healthier, more resilient skin without causing irritation.

  • Specialised facial treatments amplify and accelerate the positive changes you're already seeing from the skincare routine and products I've recommended. These treatments work in synergy with your at-home routine, targeting deeper layers of the skin to enhance results, boost effectiveness, and help you achieve your skin goals faster. By integrating professional treatments into your routine, you're giving your skin the extra support it needs to rejuvenate, repair, and glow with health.

Other benefits include, allowing the therapist to check the health of the skin, adjust treatment and product selection as the barrier becomes healthier, address specific skin concerns, observe how the skin responds, skillfully apply professional only products and treatments in a controlled environment, and educate the client in how to effectively care for their skin at home.

Treatments include manual facials, LED Light Therapy, Electro-Infusion, Skin-Needling, and Microcurrent.

  • Electrolysis is a safe and effective method for permanent hair removal. It involves using a fine probe to deliver a small electrical current to the hair follicle, effectively destroying its ability to grow hair. This process is suitable for all skin and hair types and an ideal option for those seeking smooth, hair-free skin.

Electrolysis treatments are FDA-approved and endorsed by the British Medical Association (BMA), ensuring you receive a treatment that meets the highest safety and efficacy standards.
